VFW POST 1603 NEWS & EVENTS

Honor Flight Maine

January 25, 2017

To:  Maine Veterans

From:  Honor Flight Maine Board of Directors

Dear Veteran:

Thank you for your Military Service!

We would like to introduce you to Honor Flight Maine, a non-profit organization, with a mission to take Veterans on a free trip to Washington D.C. to see their National Memorials built in honor of their service and sacrifice. Honor Flight Maine is a member of the National Honor Flight Network founded by Maine resident Earl Morse, Retired U.S. Air Force Captain and includes approximately 140 Hubs across the United States.

Priority is given to World War II and terminally ill Veterans first that were honorably discharged.  As we prepare for our 2017 flight season, we would like to connect with you as soon as possible.

An application is required to be filled out online by you and/or a family member or friend by visiting our website at www.honorflightmaine.orgor we can mail you an application to fill out and mail back to us.

Each Veteran is required to have a Guardian on the trip with them. The Guardian can be a family member, friend, health care provider, etc., who is at least 17 years old and not older than 70 years old and in good health.  If there is not anyone available to go with you, Honor Flight will provide a Guardian for you.  Guardians are with you for the entire trip and their number one mission is to ensure your safety and that you have a great experience.  Your trip is free.  However, for the Guardian there is a $500 donation requested from the Guardian to help cover their costs for the flight, hotel and meals.

If you would like to talk with someone from Honor Flight Maine Board of Directors to discuss in more detail please call or email using one of the options below:

Joy Asuncion, U.S. Navy Senior Chief Retired, Board Member, DAV Chapter 1 Member

207-930-5640 or joyasuncion@roadrunner.com

Thank you again for your Military Service!
